Saikul: In a key step toward rebuilding essential services in conflict-affected areas of Manipur, MLA Kimneo Hangshing on Wednesday inaugurated L&S Compassionate Healthcare at Saikul Hill Town in Kangpokpi district.

The facility is the first private healthcare clinic to be set up in the area after prolonged unrest disrupted access to dependable medical care. Its opening is being seen as a major boost to the region’s fragile healthcare system.

The newly launched centre will offer a wide range of services, including outpatient and in-patient care, emergency and trauma response, diagnostic and laboratory services, radiology, CT scan facilities, and a 24/7 pharmacy.

Speaking at the inauguration, Hangshing said the establishment of a full-fledged private healthcare centre in Saikul marks both a development milestone and a humanitarian intervention. She noted that access to timely and quality medical care had remained a major challenge for residents due to the impact of conflict.

Local residents and officials have welcomed the initiative, expressing hope that the facility will ease the burden on patients who earlier had to travel long distances for treatment.

The clinic is expected to play a crucial role in restoring healthcare access and improving emergency response in one of Kangpokpi district’s worst-affected regions.
