Guwahati: Former Rajya Sabha MP and RSS ideologue Prof Rakesh Sinha on Saturday said the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which recently completed 100 years, continues to move forward with the spirit of renewal and nation-building. Speaking at a lecture in Guwahati, he remarked that the Sangh “never looks for the sunset, but lives with the sunrise.”

Prof Sinha was addressing a gathering at Shankardev Hall, Keshav Dham, in Paltan Bazar on July 18. The programme was organised by the Purbottar Bharat Adhyayan Samuh and attended by around 100 prominent citizens.

Delivering a lecture on Param Pujya Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar and the Century-long Legacy of the Sangh, Prof Sinha said RSS founder Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar deliberately kept himself in the background and gave greater importance to the organisation than to personal recognition. He said Dr Hedgewar opposed personality-centric leadership and instead built the Sangh around its ideals and collective vision.

Prof Sinha also stated that the RSS maintains an appropriate distance from the ruling establishment and that its functioning is not guided by those in power. He described Dr Hedgewar as a visionary whose work was dedicated to the welfare of society and said the organisation believes in equality rather than class divisions.

Referring to his books Understanding RSS and Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, Prof Sinha said the Sangh has always focused on social harmony and national unity.

Speaking on the condition of Sanatani Hindus, he expressed concern over divisions based on caste, region, and language. He said such differences weaken society and stressed that lasting unity must come from within rather than emerge only in response to external challenges.

He urged every Indian to recognise themselves as children of Mother India and work together for a stronger and more united nation.

The programme was conducted by Kishor Shivam, Uttar Asom Prant Prachar Pramukh. RSS Mahanagar Sanghchalak Guru Prasad Medhi also shared the dais, while Prof Kalpana Bora delivered the vote of thanks.
