New Delhi: Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday launched a digital platform named ‘Satyagraha’ to map and connect issue-based protests and resistance movements across India.

The initiative was announced a day after Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. Gandhi invoked the philosophy of Satyagraha — non-violent insistence on truth — saying that while truth is the greatest weapon, standing together with truth makes it even stronger.

In a video message posted on social media, Gandhi said truth was being suppressed across the country and that multiple protests were underway on issues including land rights, women’s rights, Dalit and OBC rights, education, examinations, farmers’ concerns and price rise. He described it as his responsibility as Leader of the Opposition to help people resist where “truth is being crushed.”

The platform, accessible via rahulgandhi.in/satyagraha, allows individuals and groups to submit details of their struggles in about two minutes. Submissions appear as pins on an interactive national map, enabling users to see others fighting similar battles. Participants can also indicate if they are seeking support. Gandhi has pledged to take up selected issues in Parliament, through letters to authorities, or by joining protests on the ground where needed.

He specifically appealed to Gen Z, students, farmers, Adivasis, Dalits and women, noting that isolated voices are often suppressed. “People across the country are fighting for their rights and often fighting alone… ‘Satyagraha’ is an initiative to bring these voices together on one map,” he said.

Within nine hours of going live, the platform received more than 10,000 responses. Gandhi later posted that every submission would be read and that stories were already coming in on topics such as education, corruption, social justice, farmers, labour, health, women’s safety, land and environment. He described the effort as a long-term initiative rather than a one-day campaign.

The launch comes amid ongoing protests in Delhi and elsewhere seeking the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and raising concerns over the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Gandhi has also extended support to student-led Satyagraha protests in places such as Pune over issues including alleged paper leaks and stalled government recruitments.

Users registering movements are told they no longer need to travel to Delhi to be heard, as the platform aims to make local struggles visible nationwide.
