Persistent pre-monsoon rainfall over the last two days triggered landslides, blocking a significant stretch of National Highway 37, the Imphal-Silchar route via Jiribam district headquarters in Manipur, officials confirmed.

The Nungdalal area on NH 37, situated in Noney district of Manipur, witnessed disruption in traffic flow, leaving approximately 100 laden trucks stranded since Friday (February 23) morning.

Responding swiftly, a team from the Noney district administration rushed to the landslide-affected sites, initiating debris clearance operations employing heavy machinery.

Erratic power supply plagues Noney district headquarters amid continuous light to heavy rainfall across Manipur for the past two days, with the Meteorological Department forecasting further precipitation until Sunday.
