Imphal: Acclaimed Manipuri filmmaker Romi Meitei has been invited by the Raj Bhavan, Telangana, to participate in the upcoming Telangana–North East India Connect: Techno-Cultural Festival, organised in collaboration with the Government of Telangana.
Meitei’s National Award-winning film Eikhoigi Yum has also been officially selected for screening during the festival, which will be held at Raj Bhavan, Hyderabad, in two phases — from November 20 to 22 and November 25 to 27, 2025.
Designed as a platform to strengthen cultural, academic, and technological collaboration between Telangana and the North Eastern states, the festival aims to celebrate the shared spirit of diversity, creativity, and innovation.
Held under the patronage of the Governor of Telangana, the event will bring together eminent artists, performers, and filmmakers from across India. Romi Meitei will attend the first phase of the festival (November 20–22) as an invited participant in the Performing Arts (Filmmaking) category.
Widely regarded as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Manipuri cinema, Meitei has received multiple national and international honours for his works, including Eikhoigi Yum, which won the National Award for Best Manipuri Film.
The upcoming screening at the Raj Bhavan event marks another recognition of his contribution to regional cinema and its growing resonance in India’s broader cultural landscape.
