India’s premier badminton duo, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, etched their names into the record books by winning the prestigious Singapore Open 2026 men’s doubles title, becoming the first Indian men’s doubles pair to achieve the feat.

The former world No. 1 combination defeated Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri in a hard-fought final, rallying from a game down to win 18-21, 21-17, 21-16. The thrilling contest lasted one hour and 13 minutes and showcased the Indians’ grit, composure and determination under pressure.

After dropping the opening game, Satwik and Chirag bounced back strongly in the next two games, controlling crucial rallies and maintaining their momentum to seal a memorable victory.

The triumph ended a 742-day wait for a BWF World Tour title and marked the pair’s first championship win in nearly two years. Their path to the title was equally impressive, as they stunned world No. 1 South Korean duo Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae in the semifinals to book their place in the final.

With the Singapore Open crown, Satwik and Chirag claimed their ninth BWF World Tour title and third Super 750 title, further cementing their status as one of India’s most successful badminton partnerships.

The historic victory has been celebrated across the country as a landmark achievement for Indian badminton, with the duo once again bringing glory to the nation on the global stage.
