Ukhrul: Security forces carried out coordinated operations over the past two days to dismantle illegal bunkers set up by armed groups in Manipur, police said on April 29.
In Kangpokpi district, three bunkers were destroyed at Lungter hill, while one bunker each was demolished at Tingpibung and Leplen villages under the Saikul police station area during an operation on Tuesday.
In a separate but parallel operation, security personnel razed seven more bunkers at multiple locations under the Litan police station area in Ukhrul district.
Officials said the bunkers had been set up by armed groups and posed a threat to security in the region. The operations are part of ongoing efforts to restore normalcy and curb militant activity in the hill districts.
Further operations and surveillance are expected to continue in the coming days, police added.
