Silchar: The Public Works Roads Department has announced a month-long closure of the Silchar–Fulertal bridge for all heavy vehicles to carry out urgent piling and strengthening work. The restriction will be in effect from November 28 to December 28.

An official notification from Executive Engineer Aniruddha Nag of the Silchar and Udharbond Territorial Road Division said the closure is necessary to maintain structural safety during the technical operations now underway.

To keep traffic moving and prevent congestion, authorities have directed heavy vehicles to use Nathpara Road via Berenga as the temporary diversion route. The department acknowledged the inconvenience the closure may cause but said the work is crucial for long-term safety and better connectivity.
