Silchar: The summer workshop at Tarapur Girls’ High School concluded with a vibrant closing ceremony that celebrated creativity, cultural learning, and the budding talents of young students. Organised under the Assam Government’s state-wide summer workshop initiative, the fifteen-day programme was designed to cultivate artistic expression and cultural awareness among students across Cachar district.
Alongside Netaji Vidya Bhawan, Tarapur Girls’ High School was selected as one of the two institutions from the Silchar constituency to host the initiative. The workshop was a collaborative effort between the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Assam, and the Cachar district administration, with “Aajker Projonmo Theatre” entrusted with conducting the sessions.
Participants were introduced to a wide spectrum of disciplines including theatre, dance, music, yoga, fine arts, and literary appreciation. They also explored elements of Indian cultural heritage and literary history, making the programme a balanced blend of creative and academic engagement.
The closing ceremony featured spirited performances by students in music, dance, and yoga. A standout moment was a stirring dance-drama themed on women empowerment, which earned high praise from the audience.
Dignitaries present at the event included Snehangshu Shekhar Roy, Cultural Development Officer of Cachar; Anupam Nath, acting headmaster of the school; Protima Chakraborty, chairperson of the school management committee; senior teacher Debolina Pal Choudhury; Sayan Biswas, director of Aajker Projonmo Theatre; trainers Sweta Roy, Papiya Dev, Ankan Kangsabanik; yoga instructor Subhajit Saha; and Shatakshi Bhattacharjee, director of Niramay Yoga Centre.
In their remarks, speakers lauded the Assam Government’s vision in promoting cultural education and underlined its role in shaping holistic student development. The school authorities expressed gratitude to Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty for selecting their school as a venue for the workshop. The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates to all participants.
