New Delhi: The on Wednesday directed a fresh forensic examination of an audio clip allegedly linking former Manipur chief minister to the 2023 ethnic violence in the state. A Bench of Justices Sanjay Kumar and K. Vinod Chandran asked the (NFSU), Gujarat, to analyse the recording and compare it with voice samples to verify its authenticity.

The direction came while the court was hearing a petition filed by the , which has sought an independent Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the violence in Manipur.

The court’s order is expected to play a key role in determining the credibility of the audio clip, which has surfaced amid ongoing concerns over accountability in the ethnic clashes. Further proceedings in the matter are awaited.
