Village Authority Raises Objection

Imphal : Tension was reported in South Changoubung village in Kangpokpi district on Tuesday, April 21, following a dispute linked to a bandh called by the United Naga Council.

According to a statement issued by the South Changoubung Village Authority, a group of volunteers from T Khullen allegedly entered its jurisdiction without prior consent. The Authority claimed the group blocked public roads, disrupted movement of residents and tried to force shopkeepers to shut their establishments.

Calling the actions a violation of its administrative jurisdiction, the Village Authority said such incidents could strain relations between neighbouring communities. It clarified that it does not oppose the bandh itself and holds no grievance against residents of T. Khullen, but objected to what it described as coercive enforcement within its area.

Authorities are monitoring the situation as tensions remain sensitive in the region.
