Imphal: A grieving mother in Manipur has demanded justice after her two children were killed in a late-night attack at Moirang Tronglaobi on April 7, raising fresh concerns over civilian safety in the conflict-hit region.
Oinam Binita, the mother of the deceased children, recalled the horrifying night, saying her children were asleep when the attack took place. “They knew nothing and slept peacefully in my arms,” she said, her voice marked by deep anguish.
She described the loss as beyond repair and shared that her younger child stopped responding during the incident, possibly due to exhaustion. The sudden and violent nature of the attack has left the family shattered.
At the time of the incident, her husband, a personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF), was on duty. Binita said the family had placed their trust in the security forces for safety. “We slept believing that his fellow security forces would protect us,” she said.
Days after the incident, those responsible for the attack are still at large, intensifying fear and anger among residents. The incident has once again highlighted the fragile security situation in Manipur, where civilians continue to bear the brunt of ongoing unrest.
Authorities have yet to confirm any arrests in connection with the case.
