In a tragic incident, two minor boys lost their lives in the NEEPCO water reservoir under the Umrangso police station on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Jugal Mudoi, age 16, S/o Dharmeshwar Mudoi, a resident of 16 Kilo, Umrangso and Arjit Paul, age 15, S/o Ananta Paul, a resident of 12 Kilo, Umrangso, Dima Hasao.

According to sources, the duo went to the reservoir for boating where their boat unfortunately capsized submerging them and the boat into the reservoir.

Chairman Dima Hasao Disaster Management Authority and District Commissioner Simanta Kumar Das appealed to all the citizens of Dima Hasao not to venture out unnecessarily for a few days.

Talking to the media Das said DDMA is alerted by IMD for bad weather some restrictions have been imposed on the movement of commercial vehicles.

He assured that the district is having sufficient food and also alerted the food and civil supply to be vigilant.
