In an awful occurrence, anonymous miscreants killed the village headman of Thepli Aram village under Jengkha Police Outpost of West Karbi Anglong district yesterday.

The victim has been identified as Rostom Tisso aged around sixty five headman of Thepli-Aram village.

According to the victim’s elder son Mongol Tisso, on that evening he had gone to attend an election meeting organized by the Autonomous State Demand Committee in the village on Saturday.

The meeting lasted up to 7 p.m. After the meeting Tisso along with another village headman Mohon Bey were returning home.

Later someone informed the deceased’s family that he is lying dead in a puddle of blood on the side of the road. The miscreants had reportedly decapitated the casualty.

The body was sent for autopsy to the Diphu Medical College and Hospital. Police have begun an investigation, political vendetta is suspected.
