One visit to Handloom and Handicraft Design and Development Centre at M/s Heirloom Naga in Sovima is like opening a treasure box of imagination: Minister

Union Minister of State for Railways & Textiles, Darshana Jardosh on the second day of her three-day visit to Nagaland had a meeting with the Administration and Heads of Offices of Chumoukedima district on 29th August, at DC’s Conference Hall, Chumoukedima.

During the interaction, it was informed that she will be visiting all the states of North East as per the instructions of DoNER. Her visit to Chumoukedima District is to understand what is happening in the district and what difficulties they are facing so that she can convey to the Central Government and look into the needs.

The meeting was chaired by ADC, Chumoukedima, Dr. Kuzonyi Wideo, where he appreciated the effort she had taken to visit Chumoukedima District. During the interaction, departments such as Rural development, Agriculture, Social Welfare, Food & Civil Supplies, Soil & Water Conservation, Health, Power, PWD (R&B), PHE, Sericulture, Handicraft industries highlighted  the progress of various schemes under their department and ongoing projects. 

After the interaction with the departments, she visited the sites at Dhansiripar village for distribution of fly shuttle frame looms,  weavers, inaugurated  SAMARTH training program and Eri Rearing village  and sericulture farm at Dhansiripar Village; visited Diezephe craft village;

She also visited Sovima M/S Heirloom Naga, HL&HC Design & Development centre. She also visited Dragon fruit farm  at Chumoukedima and Jan Jal Mission at Kirha village respectively.

Later in a tweet the Minister echoed, ‘Nagaland is gifted with artistic and creative Handloom and Handicraft Heritage. Different tribes of Nagaland have their own unique crafts. One visit to the Handloom and Handicraft Design and Development Centre at M/s Heirloom Naga in Sovima is like opening a treasure box of imagination’.
