A book release ceremony of English translation of the book ‘Aseibagi Nitaipod’ (Bard’s Last Litany) by late Ashangbam Minaketan Singh was released today in a ceremony held at Dr. Kamal Literary Complex, in Imphal here today.

The book is translated by L. Birendrakumar Sharma, who was a judge by profession and a well known writer, poet, dramatist and translator.

Amongst the guest who were present during the book launch were Prof. Huirem Bihari Singh, Longjam Joychandra Singh, Prof. Rajen Toijamba, Prof Th. Ratankumar Singh along with the translator.

Bard’s Last Litany is the confluence of two beautiful poems lamenting and echoing the glory of Love. The poems are the two precious pearls glittering day and night in the cavity of the poet. The poems reveal the transformation of Lust into Love through penance and chanting the name of the beloved.

This translation work done has taken almost ten years to complete and shall remain a valued literary work by L. Birendrakumar Sharma. He is honoured with a number of awards including Sahitya Akademi Translation Prize, he was a member of the General Council of the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi.
