IBSD promoting bio-entrepreneurship in NER through BIRAC-BioNEST Incubator

Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), the only institute of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt of India in the North East Region, participated in the Global Bio-India 2023 organized by DBT, New Delhi from December 3-6, 2023 and highlighted various research activities & outreach programs of IBSD for the development of Bioeconomy from Bioresources of NER.

During the event, Prof. Pulok Kumar Mukherjee, Director, of IBSD, and his team highlighted on various initiatives of IBSD for promoting entrepreneurs including women entrepreneurs, farmers, traditional healers, local entrepreneurs, and students of the region.

IBSD is synergizing all research areas including Phytopharmaceutical Mission, ethnobotany, ethnopharmacology & drug development, plant resources, microbial resources, animal resources, etc to boost the bio-economy of the North Eastern region. IBSD is working for the development of women entrepreneurs through orchid floriculture in NER under the BioNEST incubator which was highlighted during the Global Bio-India 2023.

Many entrepreneurs, researchers, and students visited the IBSD stall to explore various research opportunities in NER. During the event, many officials from different departments including the Secretary, DBT and DG, CSIR visited the IBSD stall and appreciated the efforts on the development of bioresources. The three-day event was participated by scientists, scholars, staff of IBSD, other national institutes, and various startups from all over the country.
