Jammu and Kashmir Pythian Council organised Two-Day Art, Culture, and Sports Festival

The vibrant state of Jammu and Kashmir hosted a spectacular two-day Pythian Games Festival at the International Delhi Public School, Srinagar, organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Pythian Council between May 21-22. This event was a remarkable celebration of the region’s rich cultural heritage, artistic diversity, and sporting spirit.

Held during a time of significant progress toward peace and development, the festival served as a beacon of unity, highlighting the immense talent and cultural wealth of Jammu and Kashmir. Distinguished personalities such as Dr. Farooq Abdullah former Chief Minister and Member of Parliament, Bijendar Goel, founder of Modern Pythian Games, Bilal Parray, Rafiq Masoodi, Chowdhary Mohammad Showkat, Babar Chowdhary, Nazir Makhdoomi, Mehvish Showkat, Arshad Aziz, Shahwan Chowdhary and Sheema Manzoor graced the closing ceremony, underscoring the event’s importance and lending it an air of gravitas.

The first day focused on art and culture, providing a platform for local artisans, musicians, and performers to showcase their talents. The highlight of the day was the traditional dance performances, particularly the mesmerizing Rouf. Students of IDPS Srinagar performed the Rouf in vibrant costumes and with rhythmic movements, captivating the audience and offering a glimpse into the region’s cultural tapestry.

The second day featured a Kalaripayattu championship, around 400 students from various schools participated and each athlete demonstrated remarkable spirit. The day concluded with the Chief Guest and other dignitaries felicitating the winners.
