Strangely police have failed to arrest the culprits involved in the crime

Even though belatedly, people of Chowkihowla locality where two teenaged Karbi girls were murdered in Lokhiram Rongphar village of Bokajan subdivision a fortnight back have roused to protest and have demanded justice for the victim girls.

Nilip Nimarli Chingthur Asong local women’s organization based in the Nilip settlement of Bokajan took out a remonstrate march as a mark of solidarity for the departed girls at Bogijan around 11:30 am on Monday.

President of Nilip Nimarli Chingthur Asong, Milika Kropi, General Secretary of Nilip Nimarli Chingthur Asong Priya Hansepi, advisor Kakrung Taropi and other senior leaders lead the protest rally.

The protest march culminated at Chokihola police station after going through the local market of the area. A large number of women protesters insisted that the perpetrators of the heinous crime should be relinquished to them for justice whenever they are arrested by police. The tormented women however declared that the criminals will be given back to the police after they do away with them.

 It may be mentioned here that the girls who went for fishing on August 28 during day time never returned home, next day disfigured remains of one girl was found in the nearby jungle, while the other girl’s body was retrieved after seven days; Karbi Anglong police salvaged the semi-naked and mutilated body of the other missing teenage girl at the side of Doigrung River inside deep woods.

President of Nilip Nimarli Chingthur Asong Milika Kropi while speaking to the local press expressed her displeasure over the lack of concern of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council authority, the custodian establishment of Karbi Anglong autonomous district, in this touchy issue.

“Tuliram Ronghang Chief executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council ought to have visited the victim family and tender assistance to them at this hour of tragedy. Our protest will not come to an end till the wrongdoers are arrested” Milika Kropi said.

Strangely police have failed to arrest the culprits involved in the crime till today; a misdeed which has shocked the people of the entire locality and has encouraged the predators who are roaming freely in that society.
