Fisheries & Aquatic Resources Advisor of the Government of Nagaland, A Panjung Jamir, attended the Global Fisheries Conference India 2023 at Gujarat Science City, Ahmedabad on 21st and 22nd November 2023.

The Advisor also participated in the International Round Table which was attended by representatives from different countries including ambassadors. The Advisor expressed that Nagaland being a hilly state with beautiful rivers, is blessed in the ornamental and cold-water fisheries sector. He also stated that in Nagaland, new species are still being discovered in the rivers which needs to be further researched and more investment is needed to identify more ornamental fishes. In the cold water fisheries sector, the Advisor emphasized that the state has abundant cold water fish like mahseer, etc. which needs further investment to boost the production of cold water fish.

The round table meeting concluded with an assurance to further look into the investment venture in the state. The Advisor was accompanied by Deputy Director, Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Dr Rongsenkumzuk.
