PUNE/MUMBAI:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar over the phone to inquire about his health following his discharge from a private hospital.

The 85-year-old veteran leader, who was recently admitted to Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune due to pleuritic pain, received warm wishes and strong advice from the Prime Minister to prioritize his health and recovery.

“Supriya is Ready”

According to Vitthal Maniyar, a close associate of Sharad Pawar who detailed the interaction to the media, PM Modi spoke with great warmth, respect, and affection.

“Saheb, please take complete rest. Supriya is ready now. Supriya and we will take care of the country, so my request is that you take complete rest,” PM Modi reportedly told the veteran leader.

The remarks highlight a gesture of cross-party goodwill, pointing to Pawar’s daughter and Baramati MP, Supriya Sule, alongside national leadership, stepping up to shoulder responsibilities while the veteran statesman recovers.

Health Update and Response

Sharad Pawar thanked the Prime Minister for his call and reassurance. According to his associates, Pawar assured the Prime Minister that he was complying with medical advice and resting, noting that he felt reassured about the country’s trajectory with leaders actively managing affairs.

Dr. Purvez Grant, managing trustee of Ruby Hall Clinic, confirmed that Pawar was stable upon discharge before traveling to his Mumbai residence for further observation and follow-up care.

The high-profile phone call has drawn significant political attention across Maharashtra, underscoring the deep-rooted personal and political dynamics among senior leaders across party lines.
