The Kohima District Level Coordination Committee meeting on the Civil Registration System (CRS), covering Births and Deaths, was held on 17th July 2023 at the DC’s Office Chamber, Kohima.

During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Kohima and District Chief Registrar, Shanavas C, while chairing the session, suggested that the Economics & Statistics Department publish the details of Births and Deaths registrations in the print media and local dailies. He also recommended organizing awareness programs to educate the public about timely registration and encouraged close coordination among line departments for the system’s smooth functioning.

Earlier, Chongti, FI, District Economics & Statistics Office Kohima, presented a brief report on Births & Deaths under Kohima District. Chongti highlighted that apart from births, reports on deaths are not being consistently provided to the department, leading to inaccuracies in data collection. Chongti requested the DC to circulate a directive to all offices under Kohima District, urging them to submit death information to the concerned department. The meeting also discussed agendas related to the appointment of Registrars and Online Registration.

It is worth mentioning that Kohima District has 129 Registration Units and 17 Registrars. For Public Registration (Online Registration), interested individuals can log in to “crsorgi.gov.in” and proceed with the registration process, provided all documents are authentic and proper.
