The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council has officially stopped the issuance of ‘Business Registration Certificates’ so long granted by Town Committees and Municipal Boards of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts.
Although the decision was taken on March 17, 2025, by the Executive Committee of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council the implementation was waiting until yesterday.
Competent authority of the council has ordered that the Trading License issued by the Department of Taxation, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council will be mandatory certificate for carrying out business within the official jurisdiction of Anglong Autonomous Council.
The order has mentioned that the Municipal Boards and Town Committees are empowered to issue No Objection Certificates as a supportive document for obtaining Trading License.
The NOC has been made obligatory for both non-tribal and tribal candidates; all on-hand BRCs for the year 2025-26 will have to change to NOCs, by applying in the official format mentioned in Annexure-A.
Business owners have been urged to submit the altered NOCs to the Superintendent of Taxes of the Taxation Department, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council at the earliest.
