Vocal for Local | Biren Singh inaugurates Mai-Own 2021 at Imphal

The Chief Minister said that the exhibition is organised in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popular slogan, ‘Vocal for Local’ towards achieving Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh today opened Mai-Own 2021, an exclusive exhibition of local products of the global standard at Hapta Kangjeibung in Imphal East district. The exhibition, which will continue till March 22, is being undertaken by different Government Departments, Self Help Groups and entrepreneurs from across the State.

The Chief Minister said that the exhibition is organised in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popular slogan, ‘Vocal for Local’ towards achieving Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self Reliant India). Stating that PM Modi was quite happy with the State’s recent progress in local production, N. Biren Singh asked the concerned officials to have a detailed analysis on which Department is helping which type SHGs and what products are being produced. He also directed to prepare a report on how much local products are being exported outside the State and identify the top three Departments for a reward.

The Chief Minister also said that the Departments may also recommend names of performing SHGs\Groups\entrepreneurs to the Planning Department for assistance through Manipur StartUp scheme. In such a manner, the Chief Minister observed, the State may enhance production for economic prosperity and self-sufficient in production.

Addressing the gathering, Commerce & Industries Minister Th. Biswajit stated that the Exhibition is being organised to motivate entrepreneurs of the State so that they could produce quality products and get access to the world market. This would not only minimise unemployment but also contribute to the State’s economy achieving the goal of self-reliance with increased productivity, he added.

He also appealed to the public to extend co-operation to the Government’s initiative in taking the State towards overall development. He added that everyone should work together to give Manipur a new face in line with the New India Mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.    

CAF & PD Minister Th. Satyabrata, Deputy Speaker Kongkham Robindro, Advisor to Chief Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan, Chairman, Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board Heikham Dingo and Chairman, Loktak Development Authority L. Susindro, Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Kumar and other Government Officials were also present on the occasion.

Cultural presentations of various communities choreographed by Naba Volcano enticed the inaugural function. Different products by state government departments under Industries and Commerce, other line departments such as IPR, Police were showcased besides many entrepreneurial outlets. 

One of the upcoming entrepreneur Hero Thockchom who started his manufacturing unit of transformer in the name of Golden Trans power at Imphal  said that with the government encouraging entrepreneurs, there are nw opening up of local production unit in the state. He though said that skill manpower such as in the manufacturing o transformers, they had to depend on outside resources.

Another lady entrepreneur Vinetia Salam whose out has become very popular in the town and along with her husbands runs HOK-SA, a Tangkhul Cuisine came up during the lockdown. They started delivering home food and used the social media to popularise it.
