Silchar: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will visit Silchar on Wednesday and address a public meeting at the Police Parade Ground at 4 pm, Minister Kaushik Rai said on Tuesday.

Addressing a press conference at the Cachar BJP office at Itkhola, Rai said the Chief Minister would also visit the Assam Secretariat, Barak Valley, at Srikona and interact with people from across the Barak Valley. He said it would be the Chief Minister’s maiden visit to the newly inaugurated Assam Secretariat, Barak Valley.

Rai said the BJP’s Sankalpa Patra, released on September 25 in the presence of BJP state president Dilip Kumar Saikia, outlines the party’s vision for Silchar. Over the past four days, MLAs, MPs and other party leaders have distributed the document across the constituency and received a positive response from people, he claimed.

“We will try to fulfil each of the promises mentioned in the Sankalpa Patra,” Rai said. He added that the party was holding meetings, discussions and rallies as part of its campaign.

Calling the Chief Minister’s visit an important one, Rai appealed to people to attend the public meeting at the Police Parade Ground.

The Assam Secretariat, Barak Valley, was inaugurated on March 14, 2026, and houses the Chief Minister’s office.

MPs Parimal Suklabaidya, Sushmita Dev and Kanad Purkayastha, MLA Dr Rajdeep Roy, Cachar BJP president Rupam Saha and other party leaders were present at the press conference.
