Based on a tip-off Bazaricherra police of Karimganj Assam-Tripura border,  during Naka checking seized a truck bearing number AS 11 CC 5342 with 40 cartons of illegal  Myanmarese cigarettes worth more than Rs  7 lakhs.  The driver of the truck, Saleh Ahmed, was also detained and interrogated.

 According to the police source, this truck uses to carry cement from Assam to Mizoram.  While returning from Mizoram it brought these illegal Burmese cigarettes, loaded from the Medlisara area of ​​the Assam-Mizoram border. 

As the truck carrying the illegal item entered the territory of Assam, the police stopped the truck and rescued 40 cartons of  Myanmarese cigarettes from the truck.  Police said in a statement that the seized Burmese cigarettes enters through Mizoram and were supposed to be supplied to Bangladesh via Meghalaya.  Due to the Assam Mizoram Land dispute, the illegal traders were silent for some time.  But since the blockade was lifted, smugglers again got active.
