Silchar: District Commissioner of Cachar, Mridul Yadav, on Wednesday flagged off a vibrant awareness rally from the DC’s Office, aimed at addressing crucial health and social issues. The rally passed through key locations in Silchar, engaging the community and spreading important messages.
Following the rally, an inaugural session was held at Women’s College, Silchar, where expert speakers led an interactive discussion on health concerns and preventive measures.

Among the key officials present were Khaleda S. Ahmed, Additional District Commissioner (Health), Cachar; Deepa Das, Assistant Commissioner and Branch Officer (Health), Cachar; Dr. Shibananda Roy, Joint Director of Health Services, Cachar; and Dr. Sujit Tewari, Principal, Women’s College, Silchar.
The campaign will continue in schools, markets, and rural areas through street plays, rallies, workshops, and IEC (Information, Education & Communication) materials to create widespread awareness. Special emphasis will be placed on youth, women’s health, and high-risk groups to ensure inclusive outreach.
This initiative is part of Assam’s commitment to achieving the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets, with the goal of building an HIV-free society through active public participation.
