JOINT OPERATIONS BY SECURITY FORCES IN MANIPUR

The operations led to the apprehension of 11 cadres from various hill and valley-based groups and the recovery of five weapons, narcotics, and other war-like stores

Kohima /Nagaland : During the period of 31 August to 06 September 2025, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, in close coordination with Manipur Police, executed a series of precise joint operations based on specific information across Churachandpur, Bishnupur, Chandel, Thoubal, Kakching, Imphal West, and Imphal East districts of Manipur. The operations led to the apprehension of 11 cadres from various hill and valley-based groups and the recovery of five weapons, narcotics, and other war-like stores.

On 31 August 2025, Assam Rifles along with Imphal East police in Khongampat, Imphal West, apprehended PREPAK (PRO) cadre involved in extortion.

On 01 September 2025, Assam Rifles, in joint action with the Narcotics Control Bureau, recovered 138.5 kgs of opium valued at approximately Rs.6.9 crores from a concealed cache near British Camp, Sajik Tampak, Chandel District.

Assam Rifles along with Manipur Police apprehended four active cadres of Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) factions and People’s War Group (PWG) from general areas of Lamshang and Lairenkabi, in Imphal West District, on 03 September 2025 whereas, during a joint operation was launched in the general area Basikhong Lai Lampak, Bishnupur district, by Indian Army and Lrilbung Police, resulting in the apprehension of an active cadre of the proscribed group PLA.

On 04 September 2025, Assam Rifles and Thoubal Police Commandos in Waithou, Thoubal District, apprehended a suspected KCP (PWG) cadre.

Whereas, the Indian Army and Manipur Police recovered one INSAS rifle with one magazine two single-barrelled guns one 12 bore gun one country-made pistol, four PEK sticks, two detonators, two 9 mm rounds, five AK-47 rounds, four 7.62 mm SLR rounds, five .303 rifle rounds, and one metre of cordex wire from Saiton Gap in Bishnupur district.

On 06 September 2025, Assam Rifles and Waikhong Police seized 690 litres of spurious liquor during a Mobile Vehicle Check Post operation in Waikhong Bazar, Kakching District. Four individuals were apprehended and the seized items were handed over to the Waikhong Police Station.

Whereas, during a Joint search operation conducted by the Indian Army and Churachandpur Police in the dense forest west of S. Lonphai village, Churachandpur district, a rocket filled with high explosive (green-coloured iron body, 9 feet in length, approx. 100 kg in weight) fitted with a battery mechanism was recovered.

The war-like store contained around 30–40 kg of white cylindrical explosive inside.

These coordinated efforts by security forces highlight their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security in Manipur.
