SILCHAR: To facilitate essential Durga Puja-related work, the Public Works Roads Department (PWRD) has announced a partial closure of one lane on the Silchar Medical College Road. The affected stretch runs from Beltola Point at Meherpur near Green Hills Hospital to Durga Pally Point near Punjab National Bank, Ghungoor.

The restriction will be in place from 9 PM to 6 AM on September 25, 26, and 27. Officials confirmed that while one lane will remain closed for construction and festival readiness, vehicles in both directions will continue to move through the alternate lane. The arrangement is intended to reduce disruption and maintain steady traffic during the work.

The initiative is being carried out by the PWRD under the supervision of Executive Engineer Aniruddha Nag of the Silchar and Udharbond Territorial Road Division.

In its statement, the department said: “We regret the inconvenience, but the work is essential to ensure safe and improved road conditions for the public during Durga Puja.”
