Silchar: The Assam Cabinet has approved a major infrastructure project aimed at easing traffic congestion in Silchar. Administrative approval has been granted for the construction of an elevated corridor (Phase I) stretching from Trunk Road near Capital Point to Rangirkhari Point.
The proposed corridor will cover a length of 3.462 km and is estimated to cost Rs 564.50 crore. Once completed, it is expected to significantly reduce traffic bottlenecks in the town and improve overall road connectivity.
Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, on Thursday, welcomed the decision, calling it a transformative step toward building a smoother, congestion-free Silchar. He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for the approval, saying the project reflects the government’s commitment to improving urban infrastructure and easing the lives of citizens.
“This project marks a new chapter in Silchar’s development journey,” Chakraborty said, thanking the Chief Minister on behalf of the people of Silchar.
