Teachers and students praised the IMA Cachar team for conducting a meaningful and timely session that promoted mental health awareness among adolescents

Silchar: The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Cachar Branch, observed World Mental Health Day with an interactive awareness programme at Don Bosco School, Silchar. The session was attended by Principal Father Surjit Tigga, several teachers, and nearly 350 students from Classes VIII and IX.

The event began with Father Tigga introducing the IMA team, followed by an opening note that highlighted the importance of mental well-being among students.

Dr. Sarmishtha Bhattacharjee spoke on how empathy, sharing, and caring can strengthen students’ mental health during their formative years. Dr. Anjuman addressed the issue of “Behavioral Addiction in Adolescence – A New Disorder on the Planet,” explaining how technology and social media overuse can impact young minds.

Dr. Orina concluded the programme by sharing the Child Distress Helpline Number and encouraging students to seek help whenever needed.
