Silchar: One month has passed since the untimely demise of India’s beloved singer Zubeen Garg, yet his presence continues to resonate deeply among fans across Assam. From villages to towns, people gathered on Sunday to remember the legendary artist and renew their call for the truth behind his death to be uncovered.

Acting on the directive of the BJP Assam Pradesh, remembrance programmes were held in all mandals of the state to honour Zubeen Garg’s enduring legacy.

In Silchar, a tribute event organised by the Silchar Block Mandal brought together admirers, party workers, and cultural enthusiasts to celebrate the life and music of the late singer.

Leading the gathering, Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty paid homage to Zubeen and commended Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for his continued efforts to keep the singer’s memory alive.

Over the past month, the state government has taken a series of initiatives—ranging from repatriating Zubeen’s body from Singapore and overseeing his last rites, to building his burial site, conducting shraddha and peace ceremonies, and launching an official investigation into his death.

Plans to install statues of Zubeen Garg and plant trees in his memory across the state are also underway.

Chakraborty noted that despite criticism from opposition groups, Chief Minister Sarma has remained steadfast in his commitment to honour Assam’s cultural icon and uphold his duties with sincerity.

The tributes held across Assam reflected not only sorrow, but a shared resolve—to keep Zubeen Garg’s music, voice, and spirit alive in the hearts of millions who continue to draw inspiration from his art and life.
