Shillong: Meghalaya MLA and North East India Rally (NEIR) patron A.L. Hek has highlighted the significance of NEIR 2026, calling it a platform that embodies the spirit of unity and shared progress across the region.

Speaking on the upcoming rally, Hek lauded Biswadeep Gupta, founder of KRC Foundations, for initiating the event, describing it as a meaningful step toward regional integration and collaboration. “This rally is not just an event; it is a celebration of our diversity and a reflection of the aspirations of the people of the Northeast,” he said.

Hek expressed confidence that NEIR 2026 would foster stronger ties among the northeastern states, inspiring joint efforts toward development, cultural pride, and lasting peace.

In addition to his support for the rally, Hek shared updates on his ongoing development projects. He announced plans for the Mebaai Resort in Umtrew, Ri-Bhoi, a wellness center on land acquired in 2011, with construction scheduled for completion by 2026.

The resort will feature boating facilities, a lake, cycling tracks, a swimming pool, and three amphitheatres. Hek also mentioned that his team is currently running a hospital in Jorabat as part of the broader wellness initiative.

NEIR 2026 is shaping up to be a milestone event, symbolizing not only the cultural richness of the Northeast but also the region’s collective ambition for progress and harmony.
