Silchar: The Badarpur–Machimpur Mandal Congress today submitted a memorandum to the Cachar DC, demanding immediate repair of the main road connecting Badarpur and Machimpur. The memorandum was presented at 2 PM at the DC’s office, as part of a protest against the deplorable condition of local roads.
A delegation led by former Cachar District Congress President Abhijit Pal met the Deputy Commissioner and highlighted the urgent need to repair and restore the key road that serves as a lifeline for residents of the Badarpur–Machimpur area.
The Congress leaders stated that the road passing through the Badarpur–Bashinpur Panchayat has been in a dilapidated condition for a long time, causing severe hardship to the public. During the monsoon, the road becomes almost impassable, creating difficulties for students, patients, and commuters.
After receiving the memorandum, the DC assured the delegation that the administration would soon initiate repair work, taking into account the seriousness of the situation. He said, “Improving connectivity in the Badarpur–Machimpur area is a top priority for the administration. Necessary steps will be taken immediately.”
Among those present at the event were former District Congress President Abhijit Pal, Silchar Zila Parishad member Nur Islam Barbhuiya, Tajuddin Mazumder, Ansar Uddin, Karim Uddin Barbhuiya, Anwar Hussain Barbhuiya, Sanjoy Nath, Islam Uddin, Rahim Uddin, and several local Congress workers. The move, centered on a long-pending demand of the residents, has brought a sense of relief and optimism among the people of Badarpur–Machimpur.
