Fulertal: A joint team of the 147 CRPF Battalion and the Narcotics Control Bureau, Guwahati, seized 6.15 kilograms of heroin from the Hmarkhawlien Garmaghat area in Fulertal during an intelligence-based operation on Tuesday. The spot lies nearly 20 kilometres from Lakhipur Police Station.
Officials said the contraband was packed inside 530 soap cases. Two suspects, Jacob Hmar and Melody Hmar, were arrested from the site. They were taken to Lakhipur Police Station, where interrogation is underway. The seized material initially weighed 6.149 kg, but forensic verification confirmed the final weight as 6.15 kg.
Inspector Narendra Kumar, who heads the QAT team of the 147 CRPF, and Inspector Salamat of NCB Guwahati led the operation. Personnel from the 147 Battalion’s Kashipur, Silchar base and NCB staff supported the raid.
Security officials described the seizure as a significant hit to the drug trafficking network operating in the region.
