Today marks a deeply personal milestone for me. As the 15th Assam Legislative Assembly concluded its session, I paused to reflect on completing 25 years as an MLA, from 2001 to now serving as Assam’s Chief Minister. While roles have evolved over time, my commitment to Jan Sewa has remained unwavering. These two-and-a-half decades have been a journey of service, resilience, and an abiding love for Aai Asomi.
In my early years, I had the opportunity to serve on key committees, advocating rural development and reforms in education. In 2006, when I took oath as a Minister, I began understanding the nuts and bolts of governance; balancing fiscal responsibility while expanding schools, rolling out scholarships for meritorious students, and laying foundations for financial inclusion. In 2021, with the blessings of the people, I assumed office as Chief Minister with a vision for a stronger, more decisive Assam. I have endeavoured to serve with the same zeal and dedication that guided me in 2001.
From a young MLA speaking in these hallowed halls to leading the state today, the trust and affection of the people have been my greatest strength. As I look to the future, my resolve to serve my motherland remains as firm as ever. Here’s to the next 25 years of progress, peace, and prosperity. Jai Hind. Joi Aai Axom
