Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Thursday informed the Manipur Legislative Assembly that the killing of two persons in Kamjong district will be investigated by the National Investigation Agency.

Responding to a Calling Attention Motion raised by Congress leader Keisham Meghachandra Singh, the Chief Minister said the state government has decided to hand over the case to the central probe agency for a detailed investigation. He also announced that ex-gratia assistance will be provided to the families of the deceased in accordance with government norms.

Meanwhile, Manipur Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam described the incident as unfortunate and said the abduction of civilians had taken place despite strong security arrangements in the area.

He further informed the House that 20 Naga civilians who were allegedly abducted by Kuki militants were released safely early Thursday morning.
