Lakhipur: A notable political shift was witnessed in the Lakhipur Assembly constituency on Thursday as several leaders and workers of the Indian National Congress formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The joining took place in the presence of BJP leader Kaushik Rai, who welcomed the new members into the party fold. Among those who switched allegiance were former Block Congress President I. Monitomba Singh, District Youth Congress Vice President Dipu Gwala, Ranjit Singh, Urmila Gwala, Dipnarayan Gwala, and Prem Kumar Singh.

Addressing the gathering, the new entrants said they were inspired by the development work carried out in Assam under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. They expressed confidence that the BJP would once again form the government in the state and pledged to work with full dedication towards that goal.

Kaushik Rai, while welcoming them, said the growing support for the BJP reflects the public’s trust in the government’s performance and vision for Assam’s development. The event marks a boost for the BJP’s organisational strength in the Lakhipur constituency ahead of the upcoming elections.
