Announces Jobs and Development Push in Goalpara
KRC TIMES Assam Bureau
Goalpara: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said that the state currently lacks adequate railway infrastructure to deport alleged illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, adding that such measures would be taken up once proper connectivity is established.
Addressing an election rally in Goalpara West in support of BJP candidate Pabitra Rabha, Sarma outlined a series of promises focused on employment, development, and law enforcement ahead of the Assembly polls.
He stated that his government, if re-elected, would aim to provide two lakh jobs to the youth. In addition, he announced a proposal for one-time financial assistance of Rs.2 lakh to support self-reliance among young people.
Speaking on political dynamics, Sarma referred to the “Miya” community, claiming that the BJP had significantly reduced its political influence and does not depend on its votes. His remarks come amid ongoing debates around identity and voting patterns in Assam.
Highlighting development priorities for the region, the Chief Minister assured that Goalpara would see major institutional expansion, including the establishment of a medical college, an engineering college, and a university if the BJP returns to power.
He also reiterated the party’s intent to introduce a strict law targeting what he described as “love jihad,” signalling a continued focus on socio-legal issues as part of the party’s agenda.
With campaigning intensifying across Assam, Sarma’s announcements underline the BJP’s strategy of combining infrastructure, employment generation, and cultural-political messaging as it seeks another term in office.
