Dhubri | Deputy Inspector General of Police, Western Range, Yeshe Tsering Gwatso on Thursday inspected sensitive stretches of the India-Bangladesh border in Assam’s Dhubri district to review security arrangements and assess measures to curb cross-border illegal activities.

During his visit on August 27, Gwatso inspected key border locations, including Patamari, Takimari and Sastar Ghat, and took stock of the existing security measures along the international boundary. The DIG also interacted with residents in border areas to understand their concerns and strengthen coordination between security agencies and local communities.

He was accompanied by Dhubri Superintendent of Police Debasish Borah, senior officers of the district police administration and representatives of the Border Security Force (BSF). Speaking to the media, Gwatso appreciated the efforts of the Dhubri Police in maintaining security along the border and tackling illegal activities in the region.

He particularly highlighted the role of the district police in combating cattle smuggling and the illegal drug trade, which remain key security concerns along the border. The inspection was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen surveillance along the international boundary and improve coordination between the Assam Police, BSF and border communities.

Authorities said continued monitoring and cooperation among the agencies and local residents would be crucial in preventing cross-border smuggling and other illegal activities.
