Ukhrul: The Kuki Civil Society Organisations (CSO) Working Committee in Ukhrul has alleged that cadres of the NSCN Eastern Flank carried out a “premeditated act of aggression” against Kuki villages, despite the presence of heavy security deployment in the area.

In a statement issued on Monday, the committee claimed that armed cadres attempted to forcefully intrude into Kuki-inhabited areas around 3 am on May 4. The alleged incursion reportedly took place through the Tongou pocket of the Kampa range, raising concerns over the prevailing security situation in the district.

The committee has drawn the attention of Yumnam Khemchand, along with the Director General of Police and the Superintendent of Police, Ukhrul, urging immediate intervention to prevent further escalation.

Terming the incident as serious and alarming, the CSO Working Committee called on the authorities to take swift action to ensure the safety and security of vulnerable villages and to hold those responsible accountable. Officials have yet to issue a formal response to the allegations.
