Kangpokpi: Thousands of Kuki-Zo community members participated in a massive rally in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district on Friday, demanding justice for three slain church leaders, the immediate release of 14 Kuki-Zo hostages, and a swift political resolution to the ongoing crisis in the state.

The rally was organized under the banner of the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) and witnessed the participation of civil society representatives, church leaders, youth groups, women, and elders from across the district. Demonstrators carried placards and raised slogans seeking justice, security, and equal constitutional protection for the Kuki-Zo community.

Following the rally, a delegation submitted a memorandum addressed to Narendra Modi through the Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi. The memorandum urged the Central Government to ensure the safe release of the 14 hostages, arrest those responsible for the killing of the three church leaders, strengthen security arrangements in Kuki-Zo inhabited areas, and expedite political dialogue aimed at achieving a lasting solution to the conflict.

KIM alleged that continued government inaction and what it described as selective justice had deepened concerns within the community. The organization warned that further delays in addressing the issues could aggravate instability and erode public trust.

Despite the strong sentiments expressed, the rally remained peaceful throughout. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to pursuing justice and their demands through democratic and constitutional means.

The demonstration comes amid continuing tensions in Manipur, where various communities have been seeking security, accountability, and a comprehensive political settlement to restore lasting peace in the state.
