Guwahati: The Assam Cabinet has approved a 2 per cent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for state government employees and pensioners, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Monday.
With the latest revision, the DA and DR rates will increase from 58 per cent to 60 per cent, effective from July 2026.
Sharing the decision through a post on social media platform X, the Chief Minister said the move reflects the state government’s commitment to the welfare and well-being of its employees and pensioners, who play a vital role in Assam’s development.

“Our employees and pensioners are valued partners in Assam’s growth story. To further support them, the Assam Cabinet has approved a 2% increase in DA and DR, taking it from 58% to 60% from this July. We remain committed to their welfare and wellbeing,” Sarma said.
The decision is expected to benefit thousands of serving government employees and retired pensioners across the state by providing additional financial support amid rising living costs.
The DA and DR are revised periodically to help employees and pensioners offset the impact of inflation and maintain their purchasing power. The latest enhancement follows the state’s ongoing efforts to improve employee welfare and strengthen social security measures for retired government personnel.
Officials said the revised rates will come into effect from July, with eligible employees and pensioners receiving the increased benefits accordingly.
