Silchar: Marking National Friendship Day, the Lions Club of Silchar Valley View celebrated the occasion at Silchar Sadar Police Station on Sunday with the aim of strengthening police-public relations.

A team of club members, led by club president Sanjeev Roy, visited the police station and tied friendship bands to police officers, personnel and office staff as a gesture of goodwill and mutual respect. Sweets were also distributed among those present to celebrate the occasion and reinforce the spirit of friendship.

The club stated that it has been regularly organising such initiatives to promote a healthy and cordial relationship between the police and the public, which it described as the need of the hour. Among those present were project chairperson Bandita Trivedi Roy, vice president Anup Roy, Subir Dey and other members of the club.

Service chairperson Shibu Chandra Das thanked Officer-in-Charge of Silchar Sadar Police Station, Uttam Adhikari, and all the police personnel for their wholehearted cooperation in making the programme a success. In a warm reciprocal gesture, the police personnel also tied friendship bands on the club members, reflecting the mutual respect and camaraderie shared between the two sides.
