Imphal | Manipur Police will celebrate its 135th Raising Day on October 19 with a series of sporting, adventure, community outreach and public engagement programmes across the state. The celebrations aim to strengthen police-public relations, promote fitness and healthy lifestyles, encourage youth participation, and raise awareness of social challenges, particularly drug abuse.

The Manipur Police Football Cup 2026, organised in collaboration with the All-Manipur Football Association (AMFA), will also be a major attraction. Sixteen local football teams will participate, giving young players a chance to showcase their talent while promoting sportsmanship and community participation.

Inaugurating the opening ceremony of the 1st Manipur Police Football Cup, the Manipur Director General of Police, Mukesh Singh, IPS, said that with the rich history of 135 years of service, the force has a good track record and conduct. He also echoed that the outreach activities by Manipur Police on the occasion of the 135th Raising Day will bring harmony and peace among the youth of the state. He said that, as the DGP of Manipur, he is happy to organise the 1st Manipur Police Football Cup 2026

The main event will be the Ceremonial Raising Day Parade at the 1st Manipur Rifles Parade Ground in Imphal on October 19. Officers and personnel of Manipur Police will participate in the parade, showcasing discipline, professionalism and commitment to public service.

As part of the celebrations, the Manipur Police Half Marathon 2026 will be held on October 18. More than 3,000 participants are expected to take part in the event, which will feature multiple race categories and is being projected as one of the largest public sporting events organised by the state police in recent years.

Adventure activities will also form part of the celebrations. Senapati District Police will organise a trek to Mount Iso, the highest peak in Manipur, while Ukhrul District Police will conduct a trek to the scenic Shirui Hills. The initiatives are aimed at encouraging youth participation, promoting awareness about the state’s natural heritage and building a spirit of endurance and teamwork.

Several other events, including badminton tournaments, running competitions, essay writing contests, community outreach programmes, awareness campaigns and cleanliness drives, are also being organised by various district police formations across the state.

Manipur Police has invited citizens, students, youth, sportspersons, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to participate in the programmes and support the celebrations. The police said the initiatives seek to promote unity, service, fitness and social responsibility while encouraging collective efforts towards building a safer, healthier and drug-free society.
