Silchar | Today Youths Against Social Evils (YASE) had organised a symbolic ‘Peace Assembly’, under the statue of Sahid Khudiram Bose, at club road Silchar. It was in lieu with the recent untoward incidents that took place at Sribhumi , followed by present ongoing unrest.

As it was claimed by SSP Sribhumi Leena Doley that the incidents were never acts of communal violence, or anything related with Defamation of Bihu , or a clash between two linguistic communities, it was just a tussel between to drunked groups on that day. Hence, different organisations and individuals, present during the ‘Peace Assembly’, had urged the Government of Assam and all the District Commissioners and all SSP’s to strongly monitor the social media, and other social platforms, and none should be allowed to disturb the peace and tranquility through any medium, by any means , else strong action should be taken up by the administrations.

Moreover , one section of the people are trying to prove that Bihu dance was defamed in Barak Valley and Bihu dancers were denied their performance , in the valley, on communal basis. All the speakers had placed the fact that Barak Valley loves Bihu as equal as Dhamail and Jhumur .

A long history of Bihu and Barak Valley exists and here is nothing to re-prove. Every year Puja Festival Pandals and Processions , government programmes , private celebrations witness Bihu as a very loved and respected Dance and everyone in Barak Valley feels Bihu as its pride.

The speakers , of different renowned organizations , had urged the government and Police Administration of Sribhumi district to conduct an impartial strong enquiry, on the recent incidents, and take action on the culprits irrespective of caste, creed , religion , community and language.

But in no way Peace and tranquility should get disturbed. Moreover, the speakers had also forwarded a serious demand not to spare anyone , involved in provoking the fight between two groups, as a communal issue. Speakers proudly placed that Barak Valley was, is and always will be a ‘Land of Peace’. The renowned dignitaries present were Dipak Sengupta, Simanta Bhattacharjee, Shanti Kumar Singh , Komol Chakraborty, Haider Hussain Chowdhury , Joydeep Chakraborty , Hrishikesh Dey , Arindam Dutta , Prosenjit Deb, Bappa Roy , Khadeja Begum , Jawhar Dey Mazumder, Rajesh Kumar Sinha, Jakir Talukdar, Dayed Barbhuiya, Akhtar Hussain, Sahab Uddin Ahmed, Bandita Trivedi Roy and others. YASE Central Committee president Sanjeev Roy had thanked all the esteemed personalities and organisations , for their active participation , and urged all to join hands together for a peaceful and prosperous Assam.
