Barak Festival 2025 commenced on the 10th of January in Silchar, an initiative of the KRC Foundation with multiple think tank activities till March this year. It will organise the Inter District School Level Science Exhibition on March 22. This was declared by Biswadeep Gupta, Managing Trustee of KRC Foundation in an event held on Sunday at Silchar Press Club.
Under the aegis of the Barak Festival, a one-day Science Studio Exhibition was held at Silchar Press Club in collaboration with Jigyasu an organisation based out of Odisha embracing the philosophy of ‘ Learning by Doing’.

Students who took part in the demonstration were given a participation certificate by the Barak Festival to encourage and promote a scientific temperament in school students.
Dr. Partha Adhikar, Principal of Pranabananda International School, Silchar appreciating the initiative of Jigyasu said that it is only after experimenting with our life and making mistakes after mistakes we learn. One who does not make any mistakes makes nothing in this world.
Tridip Nath, Physics Teacher of DPS Silchar addressing the gathering explained the challenges faced by students. He stated that these science demonstrations have explained various physics theories in the simplest form and science lovers will benefit from the initiative.
Sanjib Debnath, a social thinker of the region who attended the program complemented the Jigyasu model and said that students will benefit if such a demonstration is undertaken on school campuses where the science laboratories are not available.
Shankar Dey, General Secretary, of Silchar Press Club deliberated on the scientific temperament and echoed that practical orientation in school education by Jigyasu is revolutionary in itself and shall benefit the students. He further said that one may study any subject but scientific temperament will help society come out of various superstitions. Highlighting Jigyasu’s three motto: Explore, Observe, Explore, Shankar Dey said that this itself is a message that students may take as a ‘Mantra’.
Krishanu Bhattacharjee, the Project Lead of the Barak Festival who managed the events further informed that the KRC Foundation has plans to start a Jigyasu Centre soon for the benefit of school students and more activities are planned during the three-month-long Barak Festival which will conclude with a Mega Event on April 12.
Biswadeep Gupta of the KRC Foundation wished the students the very best and encouraged them to read more books, stay focused on their academic lives and avoid digital addictions.
He further thanked everyone who is engaging with the Barak Festival and said that the initiative is designed in such a manner that comprises think tank activities and looks forward to engaging with schools more in future. He also informed that an Adventure Sports Exhibition is being planned on 22nd February where the importance of physical fitness and career opportunities in defence. The adventure sports activity will also highlight disaster management preparedness and protocols.
