In a remarkable reflection of democratic vibrancy and political participation, the Panchayat Elections within the jurisdiction of the appointed Election Observer are witnessing a spirited contest among a diverse array of political parties and independent candidates. The figures received from the district of Cachar present an impressive picture of electoral engagement and public interest.

The Zila Parishad Constituencies (ZPC) have recorded a total of 64 contesting candidates. Among them, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded 23 candidates, followed closely by the Indian National Congress (INC) with 22 candidates. Other political entities such as the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), All India Trinamool Congress (AITMC), and SUCI(C) have also marked their presence with 2, 2, and 1 candidates respectively. One candidate each has been fielded by CPI(C), Raijor Dol, Samajwadi Party, and the newly emerging Bharat Nirman Sangh (BNS), while 14 candidates are contesting as independents.

At the Anchalik Panchayat level, the electoral dynamics further intensify with a total of 381 contesting candidates across 162 Anchalik Panchayat Constituencies (APCs). The BJP again leads the fray with 149 candidates, trailed by the INC with 111 and AGP with 11. AITMC has nominated 9 candidates, while SUCI(C) and CPI(C) have one and six candidates respectively. Notably, the contest has also attracted 92 independent candidates, reflecting strong grassroots interest and democratic participation beyond the folds of major political parties.

The Gran Panchayat (GP) and GP ward levels also form a significant part of the electoral framework.
