Silchar: In celebration of the completion of 11 years of the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre, the BJP New Silchar Mandal on Friday evening hosted a grand felicitation ceremony to honour distinguished citizens from various fields.
Held as part of the party’s nationwide campaign to commemorate the Amrit Kaal of a developed India, the event saw the participation of over 200 professionals, including doctors, engineers, educators, artists, journalists, social workers, and retired government officials.
Each of the guests was honoured with a traditional uttoriyo (ceremonial scarf) as a mark of respect for their contributions to society. Addressing the gathering, BJP New Silchar Mandal president Dulal Das spoke about the Modi government’s decade-long journey of stability and development.
“Those who once doubted the government’s longevity are now silent. Under Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is progressing towards development with inclusive growth,” he said. He further highlighted the historic achievement of establishing direct rail connectivity between Silchar and the rest of India, terming it “a milestone in the nation’s history.”
Eminent physician Dr. Sambuddha Dhar, speaking at the event, praised the significant reforms in the healthcare sector under the Modi government. He expressed confidence that continued leadership under Modi would bring further positive changes to medical services across the country.
Prasenjit Bhattacharjee, vice president of BJP Cachar district, said the Modi government has consistently delivered on public expectations over the past 11 years. “India is now recognised globally and has risen to become the world’s fourth-largest economy.
Development and heritage are advancing hand in hand under this leadership,” he said. He also credited both the central and Assam state governments for bringing infrastructural and economic progress to both the Brahmaputra and Barak Valleys.
Member of Parliament and chief guest Parimal Suklabaidya highlighted the government’s firm stance on national security. Referring to the success of “Operation Sindoor,” he said, “The Prime Minister’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism has sent a strong message to terrorists and their sponsors.
India is no longer silent in the face of threats.” He also revisited the BJP’s founding in 1980, asserting that the party had reshaped Indian politics by replacing exploitative governance with a mission for inclusive growth—made possible by the tireless work of its cadre.
The programme was conducted by BJP New Silchar Mandal vice presidents Kajal Roy and Joydeep Chakraborty. Among the dignitaries present were BJP Cachar district vice president Chameli Paul, former mandal president Bimalendu Roy, Rupam Nandi Purkayastha, tabla maestro Bhaskar Das, singer Bidhan Laskar, Bikramjit Baulia, Biplab Dey, Amiya Banerjee, advocate Sushmita Purkayastha, and several other party leaders and well-wishers.
The evening concluded with the reading of the BJP’s Viksit Bharat 2047 Citizens’ Resolution, reaffirming the party’s commitment to building a developed India.
