Free Cataract Detection, Eye Check-up Camps Organised

Silchar: In a significant community outreach initiative, the Lions Club of Silchar Valley View and Prabhabati Devi Charitable Trust, in collaboration with the Borkhola Assembly Committee of Youths Against Social Evils (YASE), jointly organised a free cataract detection and eye check-up camp on Sunday at Matribhumi Club, Borkhola.

A total of 76 patients underwent eye examinations conducted by Dr. Rahul Yadav, Dr. Vikas Kumar Choudhary, and optometrist Isha Majumder from Choudhury Eye Hospital, Silchar. Among them, 16 individuals were diagnosed with cataracts. All of these patients will receive free surgeries at Choudhury Eye Hospital in Silchar in phased schedules. Free medicines were also distributed to the patients as part of the initiative.

Representing Lions Club of Silchar Valley View, President Bandita Trivedi Roy, Treasurer Sandip Shill, Project Chairperson Samsul Islam, and Guiding Lion Sanjeev Roy were present at the camp. YASE was represented by coordinator Shibu Das, camp-in-charge Tripti Karmakar, and members Sneha Ghosh and Tarani Karmakar. From the side of the Prabhabati Devi Charitable Trust, Priom Choudhury was present.

Guiding Lion Sanjeev Roy extended his heartfelt thanks to the authorities of Matribhumi Club Rajat Kanti Deb Laskar, Gautam Dhar Choudhury, Animesh Chakraborty, and Debobrata Sahu for their support and warm hospitality in making the health camp a success.

The initiative was widely appreciated by the local residents and marks a commendable step in extending healthcare services to the rural populace of Borkhola.
